File contains handwritten note of authentication signed by the artist and dated January 23, 1925 in Munich. It identifies the painting as “''The Sin'' which Mrs. Michels showed me today..” 8/17/77 letter from Mrs. Greathouse to M. Goley at the Federal Reserve states that Pieter van Veen, an artist and art consultant to Mr. Frye, said it was purchased in 1925 during a visit to Europe. Michels is a Munich gallery. Date: A date of 1893 was found in the photo album (date of original painting of Sin). Because of “von” in signature, date would have to have been 1906 (when he was knighted) or later.
