In Your Eyes: Experiment like ESTAR(SER)

When we take a moment to slow down and look closely at a work of art, what stories might it tell us? What do we see that we may not have noticed at first? THE THIRD, MEANING: ESTAR(SER) Installs the Frye Collection (on view October 15, 2022–October 15, 2023) stages a diverse selection of works from the museum’s collection in a series of triads, or groupings of three, to create small conversations that are open to interpretation.

Inspired by THE THIRD, MEANING, the Frye invites visitors of all ages to create their own triads using magnetic reproductions of select collection artworks in a dynamic interactive space. Join us in the museum’s Education Wing to arrange these magnets in ways that explore visual elements of art, tell a story, or respond to ESTAR(SER)’s triads. Visitors can display their creations in this collective “gallery,” photograph them, and share them on Instagram using #MyFryeTriad.

In Your Eyes: Experiment Like ESTAR(SER) is organized by Michelle Cheng, former Director of Education and Community Partnerships; Caroline Byrd, former Manager of Tours and Public Programs; Yazmin Cojulun, Education Assistant; and Kelsey Donahue, Manager of School & Family Engagement. Generous support for this installation has been provided by the Frye Foundation and Frye Members.
