Rose Nestler

(American, b. 1983) Rose Nestler creates fabric sculptures and video works that explore gender stereotypes, humor, shame and pride. She integrates historic subject matter with contemporary materials and reconstructs patriarchal imagery through a feminine lens. She also “activates” her sculptures through recorded performances. Nestler lives and works in Brooklyn, NY. She studied art history and studio art at Mount Holyoke College, MA, and earned her MFA from Brooklyn College (2017). Her work was included in the Frye Art Museum’s exhibition, Recent Acquisitions in Contemporary Art (Sept. 11, 2021 – Jan. 23, 2022).
